چکیده

In this paper the results and implications of two studies of computer-supported collaborative learning are presented and implications discussed. The first study was an experimental study in a British secondary school, while the second study followed a group of primary school children in a naturalistic context. Assessing learning situations is discussed with an emphasis on the affective factors. The differences between the products, the interactions and the outcomes of learning situations are discussed along with the research methodology. There is an emphasis on preand post-testing, naturalistic and experimental studies and time-based analyses.

A Foundation for the Study of Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning Requiring Immersive Presence (CSCLIP) For Next Generation Elearning

The dramatic increase in distance learning (DL) enrollments in higher education is likely to continue. However, research on DL that includes psychomotor, cognitive, and affective skills is virtually non-existent. Indeed, DL for psychomotor skills has been viewed as impossible. Laboratory coursework, which we define as including learning of psychomotor, cognitive, and affective skills, has becom...

The dialectical potential of Cultural Historical Activity Theory for researching sustainable CSCL practices

This article explores conceptual and methodological challenges in researching sustainable computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) within authentic educational settings. It argues that to investigate the sustainability of CSCL in such settings, we need to understand how new innovations become enculturated as part of educational communities and the shared repertoires and practices of lea...

Analyzing sequential data in computer-supported collaborative learning

Representations and changes between them play a major role in cognitive development (e.g., Vosniadou, & Brewer, 1992) and education (e.g., Hewson, Beeth, & Thorley, 1998). By definition, change of representations is also indispensable for collaborative work since a common understanding or shared knowledge can only be achieved by a partial convergence of the knowledge structures of the collabora...
